| Scientific analysis of antique carpets enabled DOBAG to rediscover the original light- and waterproof natural colours which are warm and bright, reflecting harmonious village life. The wool is heated in old copper pots together with the plants which provide the dye.
| DOBAG carpets consist of pure hand spun wool. The best winter wool from ten sheep provides the material for one square metre carpet. The wool is combed and spun in different ways for different parts of the carpet, this work beeing left mainly to the elderly women of the villages.
| The designs and patterns of the DOBAG carpets have their roots in ancient local traditions and history. Some patterns are woven only by a certain number of women. Every carpet is unique since the weaver is free to combine different patterns and colours, which in turn gives each carpet its own individual design and beauty.

With this colourful spinning wheel the combed wool is spun.

The DOBAG carpets are neither bleached nor chemically washed. Before the cooperative accepts a carpet, it has to be approved according to strict quality standards and checks set up and supervised by Dr. Böhmer`s colleagues at Marmara university.
The weaver receives a basic payment for each carpet which is accepted but also a reward after the carpet has been sold. The DOBAG project ensures a good and regular income for every female weaver in the cooperative.
